SUMMARY:2nd CANOSC Educational HYBRID Conference
DESCRIPTION:This conference will take place at the University of British Co
lumbia\, UBC Brain Health Center on November 11th 2023.\n\n\n\nWe are invit
ing 8 Canadian and 8 International faculty members to present\, and we anti
cipate 50 Canadian colleagues  (physicians and allied health (physiotherap
 ist\, nurses\, orthotists\, occupational therapist\, researches\, medical s
tudents) who work in spasticity clinics to attend this hybrid conference.\n
\n\n\nWe will have minimum of 250 participants joining on an online CANOSC
 webinar platform\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOverall Learning Objectives\n\n\n\nThes
e objectives will help maximize the value and application of the knowledge
and skills gained during the event:\n\n\n\n\nGain a comprehensive understan
ding of the challenges and opportunities in the field of spasticity and reh
abilitation.\n\n\n\nEngage in at least three interactive sessions focused o
n the challenges and opportunities related to spasticity and rehabilitation
\, and actively participate by asking questions and contributing to discuss
ions.\n\n\n\nIdentify key nerves and muscles in spasticity management\, and
actively participate in practical exercises and demonstrations.\n\n\n\nAcq
uire up-to-date knowledge and practical skills that can be directly applied
to enhance spasticity and rehabilitation practices in clinical settings.\n
\n\n\n\nMeeting format\n\n\n\nThis hybrid meeting approach leverages both i
n-person and virtual participation\, allowing for a wider reach and engagem
ent with the educational content.\n\n\n\n\nFaculty will be physically prese
nt while participants will join in person and virtually through Zoom.\n\n\n
\n26 faculty will be responsible for delivering the educational content.Spe
akers will be designated for each theme.\n\nAfter a short formal presentati

all faculty members and the audience on the theme.  \n\n\n\n\n\nOpen Acces
s:  Education is not restricted by financial barriers.\n\n\n\n\nSessions\n
\n\n\nThis one-day conference will have 26 invited colleagues who are world
experts in spasticity management deliver lectures on 3 key main themes:\n\
n\n\n\n\nMuscle architectural changes post spasticity and effects of botuli
num toxin on muscle architecture\, and utilization of ultrasound to monitor
muscle changes and to optimize spasticity treatment.\nPresenters:\n\nCanad
a: Rajiv Reebye\, Dr. Ève Boissonnault\,\nBelgium: Dr. Fabienne Schillebee

icipants will be able to:\n\nDescribe muscle architectural changes and unde
rstand its complexity in the spastic muscle\nAffect clinical decision makin
g when monitoring muscle architectural changes post spasticity\nDevelop str
ategies to monitor changes in muscle echointensity using ultrasound imaging
\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUse of diagnostic nerve blocks to help better assess spastici
ty to optimize multimodal spasticity management: opportunities\, barriers a
nd solutions of setting up a nerve block clinic in a busy clinical setting.
 \nPresenters:\n\nCanada: Paul Winston\,\nFrance: Dr. Romain David\,\nItaly:
Dr. Alessandro Picelli\, Dr. Mirko Filippetti.\n\nAt the end of this sessi
on participants will be able to:\n\nUnderstand the utility of nerve blocks
in determining whether a muscle may be spastic vs fixed contracture\nThe ch
allenges in setting up nerve block clinic in a busy spasticity setting\nOpp
ortunities and solutions in implementing nerve blocks and triage patients w
ho require nerve blocks to help optimize multimodal spasticity management\n
\n\n\n\n\n\nEnhancing collaborative care and how to optimize spasticity cli
nic efficiency: lessons learnt from our Canadian and World spasticity exper
ts.\nPresenters:\n\nCanada: Dr. Rajiv Reebye\, Dr. Paul Winston\, Dr. Ève
